The iPhone App E-numbers works like a black list of food additives that should be avoided for health- or religious/ethical reasons.



Now the power to quickly check up on food contents is in the palm of your hand.


If a substance is found in the listing it should generally be avoided as it may have adverse effects on your health.


Features:

  • A clear indication on whether a substance is derived from animals. Just look for the pig's head icon next to the list entry.

  • Use the filter function to sort the list the way you want.

  • Displayed information:
  • The E-number.
  • Name of the substance.
  • Aliases (some substances hide behind pretty names).
  • Category.
  • Common areas of use.
  • Possible adverse health effects.
  • General noteworthy information.

What it looks like

2.Tapping on any entry in the list will bring you to the detail view.


3. Tapping on 'Filter' in the list will bring up a keyboard where you can type anything you want to filter the list by, e.g. typing 'cancer' will bring up the substances that have been found to correlate with this disease.
